Banks stand up against Congress over electronic gambling transfers

It’s about time.

Banks are finally getting together to stand up against the US government. Hoorah!!

A group of 5,000 small banks is standing up against a tool lawmakers hope to use to stop illegal online gambling. This could post a challenge to what is widely seen as the government's best shot at cracking down on the activity.

Ugly footballers and even uglier streakers....

This is not normally my style, but I laughed my head off at this site:
Uglyfootballers.com

I especially loved the pictures of the ugly streakers. Classic.

Go, ugly streakers, go!

Stuck in DIY hell

Haven’t been able to get near my pc for a couple of days now, and I’ve been itching for some quality time with the slots.

The wife has gotten it into her head that (a)being a man, and (b)being retired, I now have the knowledge, skills, time and actual WANT to do little odd jobs around the house.

Let me put the record straight. I DO NOT like to work with my hands. The thought of sweating over a hammer and nails is my idea of DIY hell.

Luckily, I stumbled upon the DIY Doctor site. It explains all the tools and techniques you need. Very handy, indeed – but I’m definitely not telling the wife The minute she finds out, the list with ‘the little odd jobs’ will become neverending, and I’ll never see the comforting glow of my pc screen ever again…

Cartoon smoking scenes to be edited

"Cartoon duo Tom and Jerry have been investigated by media watchdogs for lighting up on screen."

Bloody ridiculous...Next the Animal Anti-Cruelty Leauge will probably jump on the wagon and say the cartoon promotes cruelty towards animals...

Carruthers will live, until his trial, in a hotel in the St Louis suburb of Clayton.

It has been made clear that none of Carruthers’ bail money has come from the Betonsports treasury.

Peace and quiet at last.

Finally had a chance to logon and play a bit. Had a good chuckle playing Cash n Curry. Didn't win much, but enjoyed it so much, I didn't really mind. Tried Lucky Barstard for a while, but didn't really take to it, so I think it's time to go to bed.

Experts agree gambling industry in mild shock

The grandcritters are spending the night, which means no peace and quiet and the bloodpressure medication on hand at all times... At least the mutt loves it - it's 'walkies' every time the screetching darlings get too much for grandpa...

According to the survey, 98% of Online Gambling Experts Believe that the Recent Shockwaves Will have a Medium-term Impact on the Industry.

To take part, or not to take part...

Another day in retirement purgatory.

Sent the wife shopping for a couple of hours of peace and quiet.

Fired up my PC and found solace in the soothing sounds of slots. No great winnings yet, but building up some solid credits.

Ok, so the biggest global online gambling player survey yet attempted seems to be on the cards.

eCOGRA has reportedly commissioned experts from both the USA and the UK to carry out the online survey, which will access the opinions of some 20,000 players.

Interested to take part? Hell yes.

Who knows - someone might even read it and take note.

Life begins at ...??

So the kids have flown the nest, the darling wife nags more than ever and even the dog has gone gray. Don't know so much about the 'golden years', I figure it should be called something like the Desperately Boring Years or Please Help Me I'm Slowly Dying (Of Boredom).

Not that I can complain. I've had my fill of traveling the world and experiencing different things and different cultures. It's just that you can only get excited about walking the (graying) dog so many times, or raking up leaves or watching reruns on tv.

Hence the blog. So I get to annoy people other than my wife with my old man rantings about... well... nothing and everything. I might even talk sense every now and then about things I hold dear. Like jazz. And good service ( I don't care what industry you're in - there's no excuse for bad service) and my latest pastime - online slots. Which is coincidentally another thing the wife nags about.

Anyway... Time to walk the dog.
